VISION FORWARD ASSOCIATION PLANS FOR NEXT 100 YEARS WITH SALE OF CAMPUS

Vision Forward prioritizes resources to serve more individuals and families with vision loss in Southeast Wisconsin

MILWAUKEE, WI (October 11, 2017)  – Vision Forward Association, a Milwaukee-based nonprofit, providing a continuum of services for individuals with vision loss and their families for nearly 100 years, announced today the sale of its Hawley Road campus. This is the first step in the organization’s plans to fulfill its mission for another 100 years.

“This is an exciting time for us,” said Terri Davis, Executive Director for Vision Forward Association. “Selling our campus will make it possible for Vision Forward to eventually move into a more modern and accessible space, strengthen relationships with our providers, and dedicate more resources to programs and services for individuals with vision loss and their families.”

Across the nation, health care and social service organizations are changing to provide more programs and services with a person-centered approach. During Vision Forward’s strategic planning process, clients and families said that they want more services closer to where they live and work, and in a more accessible space. The campus Vision Forward owns today sits on seven acres of land on the northeast intersection of Hawley Road and Well Street.   The building Vision Forward is in has a layout that limits space for programs, often confining activities to the basement.

“Our strategic plan recognizes we have a wonderful history here, on our campus, of empowering individuals with vision loss. To do this well in the future and to live our mission we have to be more accessible to reach more individuals in the community,” said Brett Bostrack, Board President of Vision Forward Association.  “We look forward to engaging our staff and our members in this process.”

The Vision Forward Board of Directors has accepted an offer from LCM Funds Real Estate, LLC, a real estate company headquartered in Milwaukee that owns and operates other thriving apartment communities in Milwaukee.  Their intent is to continue operating the apartments in the same way as they have been operated.  We hope to finalize the sale of this campus by November.
