Christine’s Story

Christine’s Journey to Keep Her Independence and Confidence
At Vision Forward, every customer has a story—and Christine’s is one that reflects resilience, adaptability, and the power of the right tools at the right time.
A Decade of Connection
Christine, who has glaucoma, has been part of the Vision Forward community for over a decade. When she first began visiting our store more than ten years ago, her needs were simple: a few 20/20 pens and thick-lined paper to help her adjust to subtle changes in her vision. Her visits were occasional then, but always warm and meaningful. Over the years, as her sight continued to change, Christine’s needs—and her visits—grew more frequent, thanks to the support of her son, Ed, who helps with driving her to Vision Forward.
From Basic Supplies to Trusted Support
What started with basic supplies has since grown into a relationship with our Store Coordinator built on trust, discovery, and some creativity. Each visit is an opportunity to explore new tools that can support Christine’s independence while catching up on life. In between our conversations about family and daily happenings, we help her navigate changes in her vision with dignity and optimism.
Discovering the Right Tools
As her eyesight gradually diminished, Christine began discovering the value of more specialized aids. Large-print calendars and check registers became essential. Improved lighting made everyday tasks easier. Also, small but mighty devices like the Liquid Level Indicator quickly became game-changers—no more spills when pouring her favorite drinks. When she found the talking keychain, she lit up. It was the perfect fit for someone who found traditional wristwatches uncomfortable but still wanted to keep track of time independently.
A New Companion: The Explore 8
On a recent visit, Christine shared that her old portable magnifier unit had stopped working. She missed it dearly. We invited her to try a few of our current models, and as soon as she tested the Explore 8, she was sold. Its crisp screen and user-friendly design were exactly what she was looking for to help her with reading. That day, she went home with a new companion—her Explore 8 magnifier—and a renewed sense of confidence.
Empowering Independence Every Step of the Way
Christine’s story is a reminder of why we do what we do. It’s not just about products—it’s about empowering people to live life on their terms, with joy, independence, and finding the right support every step of the way.
