Danielle’s Story
Danielle’s Journey to Empowerment and Success
Danielle came to Vision Forward after losing her vision due to Pseudo-Tumor Cerebri, which caused challenges like decreased visual acuity, heightened sensitivity to light, and severe headaches, especially during storms. Her vision loss made it difficult for her to continue in her previous career, but she was determined to find new ways to adapt and thrive.
Through a comprehensive assessment with our technology team, Danielle worked on building skills that would allow her to re-enter the workforce. She also joined Vision Forward’s support group, where she met others navigating similar experiences. Together, they shared their challenges and celebrated their victories under the guidance of our Social Worker, Erica Weise.
Danielle quickly became an integral part of the group, known for her friendly and engaging personality. She’s a source of inspiration and advice to others, and her positive outlook has made her a beloved member of the community. Rather than viewing her vision loss as a setback, Danielle has embraced it as part of her identity, dedicating herself to finding innovative solutions that enhance her daily life.
With the help of Vision Forward’s technology team, Danielle has become an expert in using assistive devices like the Ray-Ban Meta Glasses and the Reveal 16i. She now advocates for these tools, sharing her knowledge and demonstrating them to others facing similar challenges. Additionally, Danielle has mastered adaptive computer technology and is proficient with the MS Office suite, opening up new opportunities for her.
Thanks to the support of her job counselor, Danielle is excited about the prospect of returning to the workforce very soon. She’s eager to apply her new skills and continue her journey of success.
