Catholic Community Foundation grant supports of Vision Rehabilitation Therapy

The Catholic Community Foundation recently awarded Vision Forward Association a $20,000 grant for Vision Rehabilitation Therapy Services. Vision Rehabilitation Therapy Programs are critically important to help individuals who are blind or visually impaired learn how to make adaptations and live confidently throughout their lives. These critical therapy services help people understand their vision loss and learn new skills and ways of accomplishing everyday tasks.

Vision Forward’s therapy programs consists of professional staff in physical, occupational, music, and speech-language therapy. Many of the staff have additional expertise in working with people with visual impairment.  The team works to address the impact of vision loss on all areas of a person’s life, helping to increase overall functioning ability, maximize independence and enhance quality of life. The end goal for all clients is for them to be able to function as independently as possible and lead the lives they envision for themselves.

“Our Vision Rehabilitation Therapy Programs are specifically designed for each individual client since the amount of vision is specific to each individual and since their vision loss may be accompanied by other disabilities. Consequently, therapy programs are designed to meet the goals of each client, taking into consideration an individual’s unique and complex needs,” states Terri Davis, Vision Forward’s CEO. “This grant allows us to offer these time-intensive, life-changing therapies to infants, children, adults and seniors, regardless of an individual’s or family’s ability to pay.”

The Catholic Community Foundation’s generosity in supporting Vision Rehabilitation Therapy Programs helps ensure that individuals of all ages and at all stages of vision loss have every opportunity to be vital, contributing members of our community.
