This 20-cell refreshable Braille display can connect to a computer or mobile device through Bluetooth or USB, while its built-in KeySoft Lite applications allow it to perform many tasks as a standalone device.

Designed with portability in mind, the BI 20X is an excellent option for Braille users who want to take their digital Braille access with them to school, work, meetings, appointments, travel, or other locations.

    20-Cell Refreshable Braille Display

The BI 20X features 20 refreshable Braille cells, with a cursor-routing button above each cell. These buttons allow users to quickly position the cursor within text, making reading and editing more efficient.

HumanWare’s signature thumb keys provide convenient navigation while reading, while the compact design keeps the display easy to transport.

    Perkins-Style Braille Keyboard

The built-in 8-dot Perkins-style keyboard provides a tactile method for entering Braille directly into the device. Two space bars and dedicated controls provide additional navigation and command functions.

This makes the BI 20X useful as more than a traditional Braille display. Users can create notes, edit documents, enter information, and interact with the device’s built-in applications.

    KeySoft Lite Applications

The Brailliant BI 20X includes applications powered by KeySoft Lite, giving users access to productivity and reading functions directly on the device. Applications include an Editor, Braille Editor, Calculator, Date and Time, Online Libraries, Victor Reader, and DAISY BookReader.

This standalone functionality allows users to perform many tasks without constantly relying on a connected computer or smartphone.

    Text-to-Speech

The BI 20X includes text-to-speech functionality in addition to refreshable Braille. HumanWare specifies TTS support for English, Spanish, and French system languages.

The device can speak the word beneath the cursor and announce unfamiliar words, providing useful audio feedback alongside tactile Braille.

    Connect to Multiple Devices

The Brailliant BI 20X can connect to up to five Bluetooth devices and one USB device simultaneously. This allows users to pair the display with multiple devices and switch between them as needed.

The BI 20X can be used with screen readers including JAWS, NVDA, Dolphin SuperNova, and VoiceOver on iOS and Mac.

This makes it a flexible Braille companion for computers, smartphones, and tablets.
