Vision Consultation
Learning to better understand your child’s visual impairment.
Vision Forward helps family members and caregivers better understand their child’s visual impairment. As part of a vision consultation, our Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) will:
- share insight on medical and visual conditions and their implications for early intervention and education services.
- provide an assessment of your child’s sensory capabilities and preferences to help facilitate the effective use of all senses. Because so much of early childhood development is visual, we teach loved ones creative ways to help their child maximize his/her vision and use other senses to explore the world.
- adapt the child’s environment, toys and other learning materials to make them more accessible.
- provide emotional support and access to information and resources that will help families become life-long advocates for their children.
