Description

The Merlin Elite Pro from Enhanced Vision is a powerful desktop electronic magnifier designed to help people with low vision read, write, view photos, complete forms, and enjoy hobbies with greater visual access and independence. Combining a Full HD 1080p autofocus camera, a 24-inch high-resolution LCD, and full-page optical character recognition (OCR) with text-to-speech, Merlin Elite Pro provides both visual magnification and audible reading in one integrated system.

With magnification extending to approximately 70x, Merlin Elite Pro can enlarge printed materials and objects for detailed viewing. Its 32 viewing modes provide options for adjusting contrast and brightness, helping users select a display that works well for their individual visual needs. The adjustable monitor can pivot horizontally and vertically for a more comfortable viewing position.

Merlin Elite Pro also includes a 13-megapixel OCR camera and three OCR reading formats: Full Page Text, Full Page Picture, and Single Line Text. Multiple language recognition and male and female premium voices provide additional flexibility when listening to printed material. Users can also save documents, pictures, or books and export files to a PC.

The built-in low-profile XY reading table makes it easier to position and move reading materials under the camera. Merlin Elite Pro can also toggle between CCTV magnification and a connected computer, tablet, or iPad, making it a versatile desktop assistive technology solution for home, school, or work.

Magnification and Display

The Merlin Elite Pro uses a Full HD 1080p autofocus camera and a 24-inch HD LCD to provide detailed, enlarged images. Enhanced Vision lists magnification of up to 70x, while the extended range can reach approximately 73x depending on configuration and settings.

The system offers 32 viewing modes designed to help users optimize contrast and brightness. This gives users flexibility when viewing text, photographs, documents, and other materials.

Full-Page OCR and Text-to-Speech

One of the standout features of Merlin Elite Pro is its integrated OCR and text-to-speech functionality. A 13-megapixel camera captures printed material and converts it into readable text that can be spoken aloud.

Three OCR reading formats are available:

• Full Page Text – reads an entire page of text.
• Full Page Picture – preserves the page as a visual image while providing OCR functionality.
• Single Line Text – focuses on a single line of text.

Multiple language recognition and male and female premium voices provide additional reading options.

Easy-to-Use Controls

Merlin Elite Pro features a tactile control console with simple and advanced modes. Users can adjust magnification, viewing modes, and other functions without navigating complicated computer software. Enhanced Vision designed the system to be ready to use after setup—simply connect it to power and begin.

Adjustable Viewing Position

The Merlin Elite Pro monitor can pivot horizontally and vertically, allowing users to position the display for comfortable viewing. The low-profile XY table helps users move reading material smoothly beneath the camera while maintaining the desired viewing position.

Computer and Tablet Compatibility

Merlin Elite Pro can be used as more than a traditional desktop video magnifier. It can toggle between CCTV magnification and a connected computer and can connect with tablets and iPad devices, providing additional flexibility for users who want magnification and digital-device access in the same workspace.

Who Is the Merlin Elite Pro For?

The Merlin Elite Pro is designed for people with low vision who need substantial enlargement and contrast enhancement for reading and other close-up visual tasks. Its combination of large-screen magnification and OCR text-to-speech can provide both visual and auditory access to printed materials.

It may be particularly useful for users who want a desktop CCTV magnifier with built-in OCR, rather than purchasing separate magnification and reading technologies.
